Why you should tune in to the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia super fight
Boxing nowadays rarely captures the imagination of general sports fans -- this fight does
[The (Not-So) Sweet Science] — After months and even years of chatter for this fight, a lot of boxing fans, who are way too used to disappointment in not getting the fights they want and when they want, didn’t think this fight would actually get done.
Although there was a long and arduous negotiation process that took months, two rival promoters put their egos aside and got their fighters to square off in the ring.
Boxing is nowhere near as mainstream as it once was — few fighters today are crossover stars who non-boxing fans know of. However, Davis and Garcia are the few names that currently transcend the sport.

A bunch of A-list celebrities will be inside T-Mobile Arena that Saturday night, including Justin Bieber and Bad Bunny, ESPN reported. Your favorite actor, musician, or athlete? Yeah, they’ll probably be there too.
Reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes contacted Garcia and asked to buy a ticket, Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza said on Dan Rafael’s podcast.
That’s why this fight is must-see television. Everyone will be talking about it.
“I guarantee you’re going to think it’s an NBA game,” said boxing legend and Garcia promoter Bernard Hopkins. “You know how many players coming to this fight? And I remind you it’s the playoffs. You don’t get that for fights that’s even big until you have a super fight.”

In addition to both’s popularity, their styles make for a fun fight
Knockouts.
That’s what sells. That’s what gets non-boxing fans into the sport.
Both Davis and Garcia bring that to the table. In 51 combined fights (all wins) between the two, 45 of them ended via knockout.
Trust me, when I say it’s worth the pay-per-view, it’s worth the $85. I don’t say that often since promoters excessively put fights on PPV when they shouldn’t be.
You can watch Saturday’s fight on Showtime PPV or DAZN PPV. You can also find a bar near you that’s showing the fight.
Bay Area folks, I wrote this for KRON4.com, which shows what bars near you are showing the event.
Expect the main event between Davis and Garcia to begin around 8:30 p.m. PT.
